I Hate Dieting...

Darn you Brooke and Meredith!  Dieting is for the birds!

Anyway.  Yesterday I decided that it was time that I start working out and try to reach my goal weight, so I asked Brooke if she would like to walk with me after school.  Leave it to us to pick one of the warmest days we've had year to date.  On the walk I noticed that my hands were starting to "swell" and feel heavy.  Key sign to the fact that I eat WAY TO MUCH salt.

Upon completing our walk, I went home and told Meredith that I must need to drink more water because I felt like my sodium level was too high.  This leads her (and yes, Brooke) to get me to download the "My Fitness Pal" App on my android.  I download it and start inputting my meals and foods for the day.  My totals for the day were not good.  I've since decided to try to reach my goal weight of 125 pounds, losing two pounds a week.  My lovely little app says in order to do that, I can only eat 1200 calories a day.  I'm dying here and it's only day two!!!

These are my totals from Monday...
Total Calories eaten - 1942
Total Calories Burned from Exercise - 190
Net Calories - 1752
Over my calories by 552.

Now, I'm trying to watch my Sodium and this might explain why.
Sodium Goal - 2500 mg
Total Sodium for the day - 4087 mg
I was over my goal by 1587 mg - That's a heck of a lot of Sodium!



Those were my worst for Monday, but I also went over my goal in Total Fat, Total Carbs, Sugars and Proteins.

So, today I started off well.  I ate a decent breakfast (and I never eat breakfast) and left for school.  By the time third period rolled around, my stomach was grumbling.  I was hungry.  I get to lunch and I packed something that was high in both calories and sodium, so it was a struggle to decide what to eat with it.  Needless to say, I had the main meal and a granola bar (it had the least amount of sodium).

By fifth period, I'm eying my classroom prize container that I just loaded with a fresh supply of candy.  Oh how hard it was to not give in to willpower and just have one Hershey Kiss - but I made it through school.  By the time I got home, I was so hungry, but I stuck to it and actually measured out the correct serving sizes for dinner (very proud of myself) :)

Meredith and I went for a very brisk 1.5 mile walk this evening and I've managed not to snack.  I've saved myself some calories today!!!  So, here are my stats for Tuesday...

Total Calories Eaten - 1030
Total Calories Burned from Exercise - 150
Net Calories - 880
Under my calories by 320! (Whooo!!!)

As for my sodium, I did much better today!!!
Sodium Goal - 2500 mg
Total Sodium for the day - 2524 mg
I was over my goal by 24 mg.



I was only over on Sugar today and only by 38 g!

Now, I must avoided the longing of my stomach for those delicious chips in my cupboard, because I have to make up for the calories I was over by yesterday...my net calories are sill over by 232.  I've also got to avoid Meredith who used her left over calories to snack....it's gonna be a long night!!!
