So much for a weekend!
The day started by waking up at 7:00 am (which is normal, on a weekday) because I registered for an inservice through my school district. The inservice was for SMART Notebook training for the SMART Board I am supposed to be getting in my classroom. The inservice was scheduled from 0800 to 1600 with a one hour lunch break from 1130-1230. The best part is that it was unpaid and that I already had the training in Ohio, but it is okay because I did learn a few new things (when I was paying attention - lol).
The day went by rather quickly, minus the trying not to fall asleep because sleeping hasn't been quite as easy as normal. Wearing yourself down to exhaustion is not something I recommend on a weekly basis. I did learn a few new things about the program and got to make a few pages and I was the first and only one (so far) to complete the homework assignment...that might be due to the fact that I was working on it instead of paying attention to the instructor (oops...). We will vote the inservice as a productive procrastination.
The plan for the rest of the evening was to come home, change and go to the gym, then work on lesson plans for next week. Well, the coming home part happened -- didn't change or go to the gym -- and haven't worked on lesson plans; but, my taxes are done and I have a clean kitchen! I'm terrible, but we have testing on Tuesday and I'm stuck on what to do in the afternoon -- so instead of deal with that -- I dealt with the government and the increasing worry that comes from John not getting home when he is expected to get home.
Steak 'n Shake is really grating on my last nerve. Asking your employees to stay late, I can understand. Assuming your employees don't have plans after the shift and not taking them off the floor is another story. In all honestly, no employer I have ever worked for has just assumed that I would stay late. The decision on whether I would or would not stay late was dealt to me...not my manager. They would ask, but I never felt pressured to stay late -- but then again, I liked my jobs. It probably wouldn't be so bad if John could call and let me know he had to work late, but they wont even let him do that. I feel really bad for him, because he hates his job, but we need the money.
Oh well, I guess procrastination has a place when it comes to a clean kitchen and completed taxes...but it doesn't when you get time to fume about your fiance's job.
Have a fantastic evening!
