When we got to The Home Depot, Meredith and I went and found a new knob for my shower that looked exactly like the knob that was already on there (yay). Then Meredith decided she needed a sprinkler and wanted to find a new plant. We went to the garden center and found the sprinkler, but not the plant that we wanted. Upon walking out of the store, Meredith asked how I'd feel about going to Lowes to look at their plants.
We went to Lowes for a plant...sooo much else happened instead.
It took Meredith about half an hour to pick out the plant she wanted, but she bought a little flowering tree that we were going to plant in the backyard to add a little color. Then she decided that we needed to buy the black plastic garden separator thingy and that we were going to plant a little garden in the back of the house. O.K. no problem! We leave Lowes with Meredith's plant and the garden thing-a-ma-bob.
We got home and proceed to start digging a trench - OMG - it took foooorever! We started digging at noon today and finished digging a four-inch deep, 30 foot long trench to put this boarder around the garden one and a half hours later! It was really hard because even though we have sandy soil, we have hard packed sandy soil that hates us. Then we found clay!
The pictures above are post phase one...right after we'd finished digging and putting in the garden boarder. In the second picture you can see that I've also planted Meredith's new plant. It's the really small plant on the far left of the picture. (The lovely little thing that started the lovely day)
Then we needed some topsoil and mulch to put inside the garden border, so...
We went to The Home Depot! Yep, we sure did!!!
We get to The Home Depot for our second trip of the day and head into the garden section where we pick up three bag of Scotts Topsoil to put around the garden border to keep it in the ground and five bags of Cypress Mulch. We got all eight bags of garden stuff to fit in the back of Meredith's Neon...we did a little bit of celebrating in the parking lot. Okay, I did a little bit of celebrating in the parking lot. When we got home, we completed phase two, putting the topsoil into the trench and sprinkling some on to the Hibiscus plants that look kinda like they're dying right now. (Phase two complete)
Phase three was the placement of mulch around the plants in the garden...here's a picture...not much funny stuff to say about that...
Okay, so remember we went to The Home Depot for my shower knob? THREE HOURS LATER I installed it. Okay, maybe not, kinda lying there. The shower knob should have been the easy thing to do. Should have taken about twenty minutes...not so much.
I go to put the lovely new shower knob (that looks exactly like the old one) on to my shower. Didn't fit. We tried everything to get this piece of ... hardware on to the shower and it just didn't work for us. Meredith called her dad, I called John and nothing worked. Soo....
We went to The Home Depot...trip three. Now, Meredith's taken shower...I haven't. It sucked.
We get to The Home Depot and return the knob (that looks exactly like the old one) and go and find a new one. It says it is a universal, so we got it and returned home. We spent twenty minutes trying to get it to work...it didn't. (Stupid piece of ... hardware). Frustrated and smelly from digging a four inch deep, thirty foot long trench, I took a "ghetto shower."
Though, we did see a Bald Eagle about 1/4 a mile from our house on the way back from trip three.
Post shower, we decided we were hungry. We worked in the yard for three hours, I burned 751 calories. Meredith burned 532 calories...we were hungry! We decided to go to Applebees for dinner. But we still have the problem with the shower knob. Soo....
We went to The Home Depot...trip four. (Are we seeing a pattern yet).
After The Home Depot we went and had dinner. It was so good and the steaks we got were really tasty.

| Yum. |
We went to The Home Depot...trip five. (Nope...they don't know us by name yet)
We exchange the piece of ... hardware for a new one and head home (praying there will be no trip six). I installed it, so....
We went to TARGET - BECAUSE IT FIT!
Now we're home and preparing for tomorrow. We start FCAT (oh, boy).
