Oh. My. Goodness. We have been the Murphy family for one month and ninteen days. The first nineteen days have been overwhelming because of certain factors beyond our control. Currently we are living in Meredith's empty apartment and have been for the last week waiting for FHA to allow her to close on the house she purchased. (Whatever). Thankfully that day is tomorrow and we will be able to move in to a home in the evening. Therefore, to date, our marriage has been a bigger adventure than our move to Florida was.
Needless to say there have been quite a few hiccups, but we're working through them in our own way - trying to keep up all of the spirits in the little apartment as we wait. John is supposed to head back to Ohio on Thursday or Friday morning. I'm going to miss him a lot while he is back there but there are so many other people with a farther and longer separation than we will have. John is supposed to be flying back down for his birthday, but I'm not sure we're going to be able to scrape up the money to get him here. :-( (Oh well).
Other than that, the school year has started again and one week in to the my second year teaching 7th graders and I can already tell that this is going to be a great year. The seventh graders this year are absolutely wonderful and I have had quite a few visits from last years kids also. Already this year feel more stressfree than last was - there is more time to plan and talk to eachother and much more support.
Assuming that everything continues to go well for the year and John is able to get a decent job, we should be able to make a quite sizeable dent in our current debts. Our goal this year is to get ALL of our credit card debt paid off and then start applying more to our student loans. If things don't go as planned (doesn't matter) we'll get through it. We're just happy to have roofs over our heads and a little bit of change in our pocket!
