Unless of course a person can't sleep. Then change just really really sucks.
Perhaps it is apparent that tonight is a sleepless night in central Florida for this lovely blogger. On top of that, having decided that sleep was not going to fall upon this blogger tonight, the best option was to address envelopes to send out invites to mom and dad's anniversary party. Hitch in that plan? The messages feature on Facebook is not working - meaning there is no way to get to the invite list mom sent.
What is with the internet tonight? MyFitnessPal was not working and now Facebook is not working. Darn unreliable websites that make thousands to millions of dollars each day. Such an inconvenience tonight when the sandman failed to visit a weary teacher. On to the real reason for the blog.
Change is in the air again this summer. Subject changes. Room changes. Uncertain futures. These factors seem to be a trend over the past two years/three summers. No Civics for Mrs. Murphy next year - Language Arts is the new subject that will be taught. The decision to request and accept a position in a new subject was quite difficult. Upon reflection either subject would have been wonderful. Civics has turned out to be a rather fun subject to teach and the Civics team is extremely dynamic. It has overall been a good year, subject and team wise. It will be interesting to see how it goes next year.
On to Language Arts next year, though. At first it was nerve racking to realize that after getting comfortable with a subject - everything is going to be thrown up and swirled around and started fresh...again. Now it is quite exciting. There are so many differences between the two subjects, but they are so much alike as well. So many things that can be done to help students and encourage them to become better with using their words and the rich features of language. There will be a new team and it is really exciting - they are two wonderful ladies that are going to be fun to work with. A new set of personalities.
Again though, really a true and meaningful lesson is shaped by the personalities of those who create, teach and expand on the information. Changing subjects is another way to learn to adapt and modify. Even though it is going to be scary and there will most certainly be worry...ultimately it will be a good experience.
Have any of the readers caught on to what is missing from this blog yet? It is actually proving quite difficult to accomplish. In order to encourage analytical skill and critical thinking - it is important to practice the approach. The blog so far is proving challenging with omitting certain aspects of the writing process. One aspect of the writing process is being used. Again, can the reader find it?
Switching gears - life has had other challenges. Namely, the war between food and weight. There has been help in this arena though - chiefly through the wonderful gym LA Fitness and a fantastic roomy who is encouraging. To date, a total of 7.2 pounds have melted away from what was 144 pounds of fat, muscle, skin and bones (AKA - the human body).
Which for some reason brings up the question: Why are women so afraid to share how much they weigh? There is nothing wrong with the fact that, prior to this new routine, 144 pounds was the starting weight. 144 pounds is still technically a healthy weight. So much is placed on the fact that you should never ask a woman their age or weight - yes it is a personal question - but maybe if women admitted to it there wouldn't be such a problem with girls thinking they are overweight at 115 pounds. That is perfectly healthy.
Tangent over.
Perhaps it is time for the rambling to end. Mr. Sandman, in order to save the poor reader(s) from the rambling musing of a person experiencing a night of insomnia, it would be wise to stop by and give the author of this blog a nice dream. On that note - dear reader - let this blogger give a round of applause for sticking through until the end.
One more question - is it noticeable yet what is missing from the blog? As a reader, did anything appear out of the ordinary? What is missing?
